Residency from 16 Nov 2016- 11 Jan 2017 Exhibition 21 Dec 2016 - 7 Jan 2017 Curator: Lenny Ratnasari W Writer: Frigidanto Agung The community has its own way to express the idea. Pronunciation, beginning with the development of language footstool 'way' is. Up on the stage of culture in the community recognize the word, especially the word uptake, initially had said the style is different, but through the process of adapting it became absorbed by the local language. Therefore there is no word that can represent objects, places and things to be listed. As a result of foreign words into the original local words that every time called for such a place, object or behavior within the community itself. Residency by Miranda Tengs Brun & Josefine Gilbert 01.03 - 10.05 2016 Exhibition in Studio Kalahan 27.04 - 10.05 2016 Curated by M. Dwi Marianto “Our work is about patterns, contrasts, tactility and the balance between the controlled and the intuitive in interaction with each other. We work with textiles in a broad perspective, where we mix materials and use patterns and tactility, as a tool for asking questions. Opposites attract us because they strengthen each other, and we often work with contrasts in different ways. Both in the visual expression as well as in the methods, material, and techniques”, Miranda Tengs Brun and Josefine Gilbert. PICTURES FROM THE HOLIDAY
Michal Mitro (Slovakia) 5.07 - 31.07 2015 In this program, Michal Mitro (Slovakia) presents his minimalist photography series that serve as a narrative tool in its very sense: a collection of pictures of ceilings, the wall that he see before falling asleep, every single photo represents a different place that he have visited and slept at during his travels in Europe, Middle East, Australia, and South East Asia. Even though the picture itself is rather abstract and is concerned with the very basic elements of photography - light and texture - it nevertheless embodies very concrete experience from that particular day and that particular location. B.v.H.H.S Floating Soul, Salt Life, Life Time/Time Life 10.04 - 19.05.2015 Before arriving Yogyakarta as an Artist in Residence my knowledge of Indonesian Islamic culture and symbolism was limited. I was invited to create an Installation specifically for Kersan Art Studio large Pergola 8x8 m. From experience I know that I don’t suddenly get brilliant ideas. They come slowly with hard work and are born and shaped in time and space. Therefore it was important for me to create some sketches and work with visual symbolic ideas before arrival in Yogyakarta for a period of 7 weeks. These ideas could then be developed and adapted to the physical and psychological realities. Public Colours / Private Lines
