Dio Pamola Projects
Dio Pamola Projects (DP Projects) is a curatorial program developed by OFCA International in collaboration with Dio Pamola, a young curator based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. DP Projects' main focus is on bridging the gap between young talented artists and their seniors. The program's activities, contemporary art exhibitions to name one example, potentially serve to activate, broaden and hopefully solidify existing networks among artists and with art institutions, especially in Indonesia. While facilitating different formats with various partners, DP Projects would like to maintain a platform for reflection and inspire artists to intensify their thinking and working process in order to create the best possible work on each and every occasion.
Exhibition series Pandora
Pandora is a group exhibition program in which artists from different generations take part. The first edition was held 2013 in OFCA International, Yogyakarta. The series' title is taken from the Greek myth of Pandora's creation in Hesiod's Works and Days, best known as the artifact of ‘Pandora's Box’. Pandora, the first woman on Earth so the story goes, was endowed by the gods with many gifts – beauty, speech, musical ability and … curiosity. When the gods gave her a beautiful jar with instructions not to open it under any circumstances, as anticipated by the divines, she couldn't help herself and evil escaped and spread all over the world. Although she hastened to close the container, it was already empty, except for one thing that lay at the bottom – the Spirit of Hope.
Pandora #2 will be brought to the audience by Dio Pamola Projects, May 2014, in the exhibition spaces of Kersan Art Studio and OFCA International.
We hope that this program can contribute positively to the actual artistic discourse by highlighting and enhancing the great variety of Indonesian contemporary art.
