Oka Art Project 2014
I+dialog+I : ‘what and how about my art’!
23 Februari 2014
Every artist has its own attraction with its surroundings. As part of a community with roots strict tradition, Oka Astawa can not escape from the bonds of norms that have been imposed since birth. Struggle as a young artist in cultural space communities of origin led to the two poles of the matter: the 'subjectivity self' and 'indigenous demands'. Pull attract both then bring in the question of how to 'artists today'. When the issue of mental attitudes that underlie the birth of the artist confronted idealism-faced with the demands of being an only child who had to return home to fulfill the obligation stricken indigenous.
The struggle is then brought Oka thought to examine what and how the mental attitude of the artist was supposed to be sharpened and championed. This is a question which can be very subjective, but what is offered by the observers Oka real test of how important the ideology which is owned by the artist.
If the discourse of art revolving stating that no artwork is not political in it means to it is part of a larger discourse system, is responsive (causality) and became one offer the perspective of a phenomenon, and has a specific purpose, then what is then we neglect the ideological background of the birth of 'art' that?
Of course, every work of art is not merely created for elementary design composition per se, but there are values that fought in it. Contextuality becomes the main canon in contemporary art today. Each artist presents the concept of his work as part of her partiality on the phenomenon exists. Every visual language that is created, any artistic activity appears certainly not without substance ideology, embedded real or vague, it is true championed by each artist, far beyond the existence or material needs.
This has at least become a burst of dialogue that wants to convey by Oka Astawa through their art: OKA ART PROJECT 2014 for 'self' if only are keywords that can guide every individual involved in this project, to constantly ask themselves, do self-criticism and possible corrections to the definition of 'what and how my art'!
