HATI HATI HAT
by Justyna Górowska and Adam Gruba
(Razem Pamoja Foundation)
22 - 31 July 2016
HATI HATI HAT (hati hati in Indonesian attention!) is a project by Polish artists Justyna Górowska and Adam Gruba (representatives of the Razem Pamoja Foundation), they invited numerous artists from Poland and Indonesia to cooperate and each artist received one colonial hat (pith helmet). The helmets became objects of critical re-designing by the participating artists, who transformed them into works of art. Now, the hat collection serves as the point of departure for further activities. The symbolic capital accumulated during the project is offered to bid in a charitable auction, in line with the Razem Pamoja Foundation’s practice so far, consisting in using market mechanisms for ethical purposes. Funds raised will go towards creating a space of Polish - Indonesian cooperation in Yogyakarta (Indonesia). A site in the form of a gallery, a café, or an intellectual parlour, directed at researching and naming other modes of reflection on art, economy and the political.
The Hati Hati Hat Exhibition with it all activities at the Kersan Art Studio (Yogyakarta, Indonesia) will be presented in parallel with the Hati Hati Hat Exhibition at the Bookstore | Exhibition (Krakow, Poland), the home of the Razem Pamoja Foundation.
