Based in Riga, Latvia young visual artist Irina Spakova (b.1987) finished her Bachelor and Master of Arts degree in Art Academy of Latvia in 2014. Since 2007 she has taken part in several solo and group exhibitions displaying her paintings and drawings. Endless curiosity about human realities inspires her construct simple and at the same time subjective dialogue.
With minimalistic visual art solutions she tends to represent simplified reality where the base of sacred is the state when subject interacts and blends with the world. All her works are the results of observation and research of her own nature and nature /environment around.
“From West to East to West” is the map of Irina’s itinerary for the past few years. Her visual documentation began in West Sumatra, a little muslim town in Padang Panjang, where she studied, lived and observed the differences and similarities between Western and Eastern cultures, people mindsets, customs and believes. The Book launch and her solo exhibition take place in Kersan Art Studio from 31 March to 14 April 2014.
